Boxing has largely been dominated by men, however, there have been some outstanding female role models in this sports as well. Nicola Adams, Laila Ali and Cecilia Braekhus are some of these great athletes who achieved such great success despite many setbacks.

Laila Ali has retired but Nicola Adams and Cecilia Braekhus are still quite active in the boxing world. You can watch them performing in the ring and you can also avail comeon voucher code to bet on their matches and win some cash.

1- Nicola Adams

Nicola Adams is a hugely successful British professional boxer who surmounted great obstacles on her way to greatness. She was only 13 when she fought and won her first match. And at 19, she got the distinction of being the first female boxer to represent England. She currently holds the WBO female flyweight title which she won after defeating Isabel Millan.

She had to deal with setbacks, injuries, and lack of funds for her boxing career before she became such a hugely successful star. Initially, she even worked as a builder and an extra on soap operas.

A big victory for Nicola Adams came in the 2012 Summer Olympics when she defeated Mary Kom (India) and Ren Cancan (China) to land her first Olympic Gold medal. She claimed her next gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow before defeating Sarah Ourahmoune (France) at the 2016 Rio Olympics to win her second Olympic medal.

2- Laila Ali

Laila Ali came to boxing quite late and made her professional boxing debut at the age of 21. She faced April Fowler in her first bout whom she knocked out into the first round.

She is the daughter of the world-famous boxing figure Muhammad Ali. Surprisingly, it wasn’t her father who inspired her to become a boxer. Instead, she became inspired by seeing other female boxers on television.

When Laila Ali first informed her father about her decision, he wasn’t happy and tried to discourage her. However, she remained firm in her decision and became such a big success.

She didn’t lose a fight in her entire career and retired with a perfect record. She got her most famous victory against Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, the daughter of boxer Joe Frazier. During her career, she held multiple titles, including the

including the WBC, IWBF, WIBA, and IBA female super middleweight titles as well as the IWBF light heavyweight title.

3- Cecilia Braekhus

Cecilia Braekhus started kickboxing at the age of 14 and made her professional boxing debut against Ksenija Koprek on 20 January 2007. She faced great challenges on her way to becoming a professional boxer.

Professional boxing was banned in Norway when she first started boxing, so she had to leave her country for pursuing her passion. She is the only female in history who has the distinction of holding the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles simultaneously.
