David Lemieux: “As soon as I see in my opponents eyes that he’s slowing down, I’m a shark, I taste the blood and I’m taking him out!”

Middleweight contender, David Lemieux, is now on the verge of a title shot, as he recently announced that he is willing to fight for the vacant IBF middleweight belt that was previously held by Jermain Taylor. This news is a good start to the year for Lemieux, but for him it seems only to be the beginning of what he hopes will be a big 2015.

In part 2 of my “On The Ropes” interview with David Lemieux, I speak to him about his plans regarding the current middleweight belt holders and if he thinks they would be interested in fighting him. I also get Lemieux’s thoughts on a couple of big fights set to take place in 2015, as he shares his views on Mayweather-Pacquiao and Pascal vs. Kovalev. Additionally, Lemieux talks about what it is like to be a knockout puncher and lets his fans know what they can expect from him in the future. Here is what David Lemieux had to say.

Jenna J: What are your thoughts on middleweight champions, Miguel Cotto and Andy Lee?

David Lemieux: Those are two guys I would love to fight but I don’t know if they’ll fight me. I would love to fight these two guys any time. I want my titles, I want them all.

Jenna J: I want to ask you about some potential big fights that are coming up in 2015. As a fan what do you think happens when Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao step in the ring?

David Lemieux: I think it’s something everybody wants to see, it’s a very interesting fight because of the styles of both of them. They’re two great fighters and I want to see when Pacquiao starts connecting how Mayweather is going to react. Mayweather is much bigger than Pacquiao but if I had to choose, I think Mayweather would have the advantage in this fight.

I just want to see when Mayweather gets hit, how he reacts because a lot of fighters fight him and they don’t really connect with him and Pacquiao is certainly not the type to not hit targets, so it’s gonna be an interesting fight. Mayweather is a great fighter and it will take something great to beat him.

Jenna J: Another big fight is that’s coming up is going to take place in Canada on March 14th, Jean Pascal vs. Sergey Kovalev. What do you think happens in this fight?

David Lemieux: That is a big fight, but I have to go with my boy Pascal. I’ve been training with him for many years now. He’s away for camp right now. When he’s serious, Jean Pascal is a much different fighter, there’s no challenge in which he’s not gonna bring himself to the table.

For a big fight like this, I think we’re gonna see the best of Pascal. Kovalev is a very good fighter, he’s a very strong fighter, it’s not gonna be easy for Pascal to beat him, he’ll have to be at his best. It’s gonna be an interesting fight, I’m looking forward to it but I think Pascal could knock out Kovalev, but it won’t be easy.

Jenna J: In your thirty three wins, you have thirty one knockouts, and that’s what fans like to see. Can you describe what it feels like to go out there and be a knockout puncher?

David Lemieux: It’s a great feeling and it’s a big gift. I have a big advantage on my side because any second you can just take anybody out and it’s a big advantage that the knockout artists have on their side.

As soon as I see in my opponents eyes or in his body language that he’s slowing down, I’m a shark, I taste the blood and I’m taking him out. It feels great. I can’t tell you otherwise because I’ve never had otherwise.

Jenna J: You earned a lot of new fans, especially in the United States with your last performance. Is there any message you want to pass along to all of them?

David Lemieux: Yeah, thanks for your support and you will get he best of Lemieux every time I step in the ring. You’ll always get an exciting fight, a very exciting fight. Be careful not to blink because the fight might end. Keep watching, I’ll be back very soon to give you guys more action.

I’m afraid Pacquiao won’t hurt Mayweather, especially that Mayweather proposed 10oz. gloves and has already been agreed upon. And I’m more afraid that the agreed Drug-Testing Organization will be USADA which protects Floyd Mayweather. I wouldn’t be surprised if something “foul” happens. And i’m keeping my fingers crossed that the fight will be truly be on an “even playing field”. Manny Pacquiao agreeing to all Floyd’s demands will be to his disadvantage, especially without VADA involved. .

    • dislocate the shoulder of floyd, an average of 5 left hook to floyd shoulder in every round. previous opponent of floyd are all stupid they targeting the face, , we all know floyd is very slick not to hit his face. very simplle pacman can connect a volume of punches , job hit stomack left and right left hook to shoulder and last to chin, destruct the wall defense of floyd, i believe after 6 rounds floyd will colapse.

    To Eths:
With all the demands to his advantage, why is Mayweather is not hastening up the fight. As of this hour ,he is still not saying anything, non committal.Pacquia is always a ” Go”.
It is not an even playing field!!! It is uneven one.And that belongs to Floyd.Pacquiao will hurt that boxer.I believe that.Floyd might employ hold, embrace ,push down and clinch to dissipate Pacquiao’s incessant pressure. How will he react when he gets a real haymaker more than what Mosley buckled his legs?
Pacquiao is no Mosley,”power wise”. That’s why Lemieux is wondering.
    Time to get rattled ,Floyd!!!
From what I know,Pacquiao can use the 8 oz gloves. Rattle time Floyd!!!!!

I do believe the fight will happen now. Let’s just wait for Mayweather to announce it himself. I believe it is included in the “verbal” contract that Mayweather will be the one to announce the fight. Why until now he hasn’t? Only Floyd knows why he seems to be delaying the announcement but it will push through. My guess is, well, he might be shortening Pacquiao’s fight training/preparations because Floyd himself is already in “fighting mode” right now. But we may never know.

…Pacman and Mayweather will both used a 8oz glOves, and USADA will do the test, Pacman even proposes a 5million Dollar payment if one of them will fail the prior-post drug testing protocol. This have been confirmed by Freddie Roach himself. Even in with a 10oz gloves Mayweather will have a hard time agaisnt Pacman because the filippino hits harder. What do we have to think of this so much delay of announcement? 50 Cent have an answer, Floyd is scared to death to fight the Pacific Phenom!

    • Eths says:

Pacquiao hits harder said Marquez. But Cotto claimed it’s Mayweather that hits harder. I can make an argument that it is Mayweather that hits harder NOW because Cotto’s fight with Mayweather is more recent. You can add Alex Ariza to the equation. Even Mosley stated that Mayweather can hurt Pacquiao if he wants to. We shall see on the fight itself. Now, i think that the fight is pushing through because Mayweather is no longer afraid of Pacquiao. Bradley, after his fight with Pacquiao, was rumored to have paid a visit to Floyd while in training for Maidana I fight. Bradley may have said something that changed his mind in regards to fighting Pacquiao. We don’t know what that is. one thing for sure, Bradley said in interviews right after his second fight with Pacquiao that he (Pacquiao) hits WAY harder in their first fight. Although that was then, but in recent interviews, Bradley seemed to change his tune for what motives we may never be certain..

Don’t hold your breath on that…. It may not happen.

  5. bug says:

Money takes his time to comfirm his fight against Manny, coz he thinks over and over again, that if he fights Manny hes gonna be richer big time if he accept the fight but the problem is if he losses hes gonna be miserable rich….Manny I think hits really hard if Manny’s punches hit the target, we can see on Manny’s opponents after the fight, their faces were really hammered so badly, even Marquez 4 , before Marquez knock out Manny, Marquez’s nose was bloody and looked like broken and lucky Marquez I think he stepped on Mannys foot. but its boxing, u can cheat in order to win.

  6. Iriga City Boy says:

    To Glen,
Is it because someone is scared and got ” cold feet” all of a sudden? I won’t be surprised at all from all the motions being shown!!! He,He,He!!!

RELIABLE SOURCES HAVE STATED THAT FLOYD MAYWEATHER FAINTED SIX (6) TIMES

during the Pacquiao v Algieri fight a few months back. the same source appeared irritated when pressed for details saying “what’s wrong with you people, do i have to draw you a picture?”

  8. Iriga City Boy says:

    To Bug,
Floyd really has to be aware of the power of Pacquiao and what he does on the opponents .Barrera was demolished;Julio was destroyed;Fahsan Rakiatgym was lifted off his feet in the Philippines and stopped;Lucero pirouetted when hit by a left hook;so,to Hatton ;Marquez face was a macabre of blood and broken nose;Morales was savagely beaten;Larios was punished in Manila;Diaz face was deformed and got kayoed; De La Hoya’s pretty face was made ugly and quit in the 9th;Cotto’s face got mangled and quit in the 12th canto; Margarito’s orbital was damaged and got beat up pretty good; Clottey went into a shell for the whole fight just to survive;Rios face got bruises after the fight and became a ” punching bag” the whole 12 rounds; and Bradley got punished and had that ” fluffy face” after the fight.
So , question to Floyd: “Do you want still to proceed with this megafight”?
Think,Mr.Prett Boy Floyd!!! Since your Dad and Uncle really think that you three will prevail and Pacquiao will get ” whooped and sweep ” the floor, then make the document and sign it ASAP!!
It’ s scary time now!!! Fight or Flight!!

  9. Iriga City Boy says:

    Addendum: To Bug,
Oh, I forgot!! Algiere also was backpedalling the whole night and got dropped 6 times.More scary things for Floyd’s dreams before May 2.
Want to switch to Cotto now, thanManny,Mr .Mayweather?

  10. Iriga City Boy says:

Addendum: Oh ,sorry again,Bug,I forgot one more
Mosley ,after getting dropped by a Pacquiao haymaker, resorted to a defensive fight and lost.
Another Floyd situation to ponder about the power of a Pacquiao punch.Scary ain’t,Floyd!!

  11. Iriga City Boy says:

    To Eths,
Floyd can announce the fight as he pleases, but it won’t help him because he might be worried about this
fight and had doubts.Your guess is my guess, too.Floyd might have that intention of shortening Pacquiao’s training/ preparation to get advantage.

    • bug says:

Whats in Floyd mind is he will give Pacman a short notice to fight him, that’s why pacman is in serious training even Floyd didn’t give him any signal yet,at least pacman has strengthen his power and speed when Floyd give him a go sign and pacman is ready to fire his weapon against Floyd .Maybe pacman can try sand bag, to make his knuckle more harder like a rock.

  12. Dax says:

It’s Alex A ‘s fault. He tells the truth to Floyd that Manny is not on PED when knocking boxers out.

  13. Dax, you hit the bulls eye 🙂 Floyd’s still figuring out what to do since he knows himself that the PACMAN is clean and PEDS is just a make up story trying to discredit the best boxer of this generation…. future GOAT!!!!

    • STEPHEN TARR says:

if its true that floyd agreed to 8 oz gloves that would tell me hes not fighting at all, he will agree to everything only when hes got a blocker ready to throw in later

  14. Hernan says:

Floyd agreed to fight Pacman one-on-one in basketball 3 point shoot out.
