Deontay Wilder: “We’re not going to chase Anthony Joshua, we notified them and we’re ready!”

WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, returned to the ring this past weekend to take on Bermane Stiverne in a rematch of the fight where Wilder became a world champion. The first fight went the distance, the only bout of Wilder’s career to do so, but the second fight could not be more different, as Wilder destroyed Stiverne in the first round, knocking him unconscious. With the win, Wilder moves closer to the fight all fans want to see, Wilder vs. Joshua.

In part 2 of my “On The Ropes” boxing radio interview with Deontay Wilder, I talk to him about an Anthony Joshua bout and if he will fight Dillian Whyte to make that fight happen. Deontay also talks about the possibility of getting knocked down in a fight with Joshua and if he sees it as that kind of a match. Additionally, Deontay shares his thoughts on the sport and talks about some fights he would like to see made. Here is what Deontay Wilder had to say.

Jenna J: Deontay, when it comes down to making a fight with Anthony Joshua, how much do you believe you are going to have to chase it?

Deontay Wilder: We’re not going to chase. We notified them that we’re ready, we want you, we’re calling you out. You noticed it and you know that we want you. He can add all these Dillian Whyte’s and all these distractions to try to prolong it from happening it. I have no problem fighting Dillian Whyte, lets add Joshua to that contract and watch me come to England and whoop both of their asses.

People think that the money is in Europe, but the money is really here in America to be honest. It seems like they’re popping but the money is and always will be in America. They may choose their path how the may, but at the end of the day, when you decide to come down this tunnel and see what lays on the other end of the light, I will be standing there waiting.

Jenna J: Eddie Hearn has suggested that you should fight Dillian Whyte to help build up a fight with Anthony Joshua. Do you have any interest in a match with Whyte?

Deontay Wilder: We have already spoken, I have already made my terms. If the UK fans and Eddie Hearn want to send their blockage to their cash cow, then add Joshua to the contract and I would love to whoop Dillian Whyte. That’s an easy fight, that’s a fight I win in my sleep, a fight I win with one hand tied behind my back.

Whyte is a one trick pony, he’s just a brawler, that’s it. Even Eddie Hearn doesn’t want to commit to Whyte, look how he’s got him hanging, he goes fight by fight with him. Dillian Whyte is just like a dirty rag that’s hanging out of Eddie Hearn’s pocket. I guarantee if they put Joshua through that contract with Whyte, you will see a fight, I will be there.

Jenna J: Do you see a fight with Anthony Joshua as a fight where both of you could see the canvas and won’t end in a decision?

Deontay Wilder: Of course, this is heavyweight boxing, that’s what it consists of. When you look down on that contract, it’s not on there in print but you both could see the canvas, it’s in invisible print. We already know this is capable of happening, but we do it anyway, if you’re a warrior, you sign that contract anyway. If you’re a king as you say you are, you will sign that contract anyway.

Deontay signs that contract each and every time with any fighter. I don’t think about hitting the canvas, I think about putting my opponent to the canvas, I think about hurting him so bad that even when he gets to the hospital he will remember that he was in a fight with Deontay Wilder..

Jenna J: Are there any particular fights you would like to see in the sport that don’t involve you?

Deontay Wilder: There’s a lot of great fights. I’d love to see Danny Garcia come back and get back into action. Of course I’d like to see the Keith Thurman-Errol Spence fight, that’s the one that people have been hollering about. There are a lot of fights going on. Boxing is doing an amazing job, Showtime has done a tremendous job this year putting on some of the best fights in the world. I’m looking forward to seeing more boxing and even making history myself in boxing. Thank you to all the fans for tuning into boxing and supporting boxing.

Wilder would knock him out with in 7 rounds. There is a difference here from the 41 year old KLIT. He will take Joshua out in short order

AJ is a really special talent, he is tall , fast, strong and has ktfo power. Wilder is talented to, but if they fight, there is a difference between taking shots from AJ and takin em from Gerald washington
