Floyd Mayweather Sr: “What Floyd did with Leonard Ellerbe, I’ve been waiting for that to come for years because he’s nothing for real!”

It’s been almost a month since Floyd Mayweather Jr. ended his two fight chapter with Marcos Maidana, winning a decisive decision and ending any doubts that lingered from the first bout. In the weeks after the event there has been some rumblings from the Mayweather camp that some long time members of the team might not have their role the next time Mayweather Jr. steps into the ring.

In part 1 of this “On The Ropes” special interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr, I discuss with him his sons’ most recent victory in the ring, and how he feels about Floyd’s performance. Floyd also talks about some criticism his son faced after the fight in regards to how he fought in the rematch. Additionally Mayweather shared his views on Leonard Ellerbe’s future being in question and also Rafael Garcia’s decision to retire. Here is what Floyd Mayweather Sr. had to say.

Jenna J: What are your views on Floyd’s win over Marcos Maidana?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: Well I thought everything went just like I said. For some reason I don’t know why those people still think they won the fight, they know they didn’t win.

Jenna J: How would you rate your sons performance overall?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: I was very happy with my sons’ performance. He did what he had to do, and I don’t think there were no doubts about what happened and I’ll be honest, I don’t know where they gave him any rounds. I might of gave him one round, I didn’t see any rounds where he was beating Floyd. I might have given him one round, that’s about it.

Jenna J: Were you at all worried when you saw Floyd get hit with a big shot at the end of the third round?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: That was a real big shot but Floyd showed everybody what he’s made out of and what he can do. This guy hit him with his big ol shot, hey he’s supposed to be a puncher, I didn’t see Floyd move. I’m just saying that Floyd must be able to take a pretty good punch.

Jenna J: What do you think of the people that were critical of your son for taking off the final round in the fight?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: I didn’t tell little Floyd to do that in the last round, I told him to do it a round before. What I told him to do was, “In the eleventh round I want you to just move around, just move, move, move.” In the twelfth round I said that I wanted him to chop it off in the twelfth.

I wanted him to show what he wasn’t doing in the twelfth, that’s what I wanted him to do. He explained all that too, “My daddy told me in the eleventh round to do the job. In the twelfth he wanted me to make a good showing in the last outing.” I wanted him to get Maidana and work on him, but he did it the other way.

Jenna J: Floyd, how do you feel now that this whole Marcos Maidana chapter is over with? You have two fights training your son for him, you’ve seen every foul in the world, even in this last fight with your son getting bitten in the glove. How do you feel now?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: It’s over and it should be over now. It should be over. There ain’t nothing else to talk about. What I’m saying here is this, Floyd showed everybody what he can do, what he’s about and who he is. I think Maidana knew he clearly got whooped and there were no ifs and ands about it, so I think that he’s gonna roll with the punch, he’s got no choice.

Jenna J: Being the fact that the Mayweather camp has been so close for a while, I’m curious what you made of Floyd having problems with Leonard Ellerbe and him making them public?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: Well not only with Leonard, he had one with Rafael Garcia as well. He had problems with both of them. What he did with Leonard, I’ve been waiting for that to come for years. I’ve been waiting for that for years because Leonard, he’s nothing for real, I already knew that about him. There ain’t too much I can say about Leonard, but hey, he’s ain’t the man, I think Floyd did the best thing right there.

Jenna J: You don’t think it will impact Floyd’s company negatively to part ways with Leonard?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: No, no. I really didn’t want to see Rafael go, being this close and as old as he is. I’m just saying that it’s Floyds show and Floyd’s got to do it the way he wants to do it, but that doesn’t mean that everybody has to agree with it but it’s his thing. He can do what he wants to do with it.

I thought that Rafael has been there so long, I thought he was gonna at least do it out. I don’t know what it was about, not quite, but they were saying it was something about the guy named Bob that did the hand wraps for him and Floyd liked him. But the again, there’s a lot of things you got to look at.

I can’t say anything about anybody because it’s been a lot of years that Floyd has worked with Rafael. There’s a lot of things I don’t know right now about Bob — not saying nothing bad about him, because I don’t know anything about him being in a corner. I don’t even know if he can do cuts, I don’t know. He’s been in there with people for cuts but I’ve never seen anybody get cut. Sometimes you just got to go back to the drawing board.

Like everyone else with whom Floyd had a falling out with,

Ellerbee made the mistake of suggesting a fight with Pacquiao for a truckload of money.

He shudda just be glad he wasn’t a she or he wudda been beaten up bad by Floyd.

The mayweather family is a joke. Before gayfloyd always praises leonard for doing his job on the team but now they are telling the world that Ellerbe is a useless bum, I do hope that gayfloyd will not ever pick Manny as he’s opponent because Pacquiao will knock him out, he cant beat Manny absolutely. I think Leonard should leave the Money Team now and afterwards challenge Gayfloyd and his gorilla Father to a fist, anyway they are all useless and arrogant!
