‘The American Boy’ Jason Litzau made his return to the ring on August 16th after a three year absence, battling to an eight round draw against Hylon Williams Jr. The fight was part of the “Knockout” reality series and it was a chance for Litzau to not only find his way back to the spotlight, but also get himself back into title contention.

In my “On The Ropes” boxing radio interview with Jason Litzau, I discuss with him his recent fight and if he thinks their should be a rematch with Williams. Litzau also talked about his time away from the ring, and how he feels now at the age of thirty two. Additionally Jason shares his thoughts on Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and lets fans know what they can expect from him next. Here is what Jason Litzau had to say.

Jenna J: You recently made your return to the ring after three years out of it. You faced Hylon Williams Jr. and the fight was a controversial split draw. How did you feel about the fight?

Jason Litzau: I love Hylon, he came to fight. At the end of the day I’m a winner, I’m back in the ring doing what I do. I didn’t even care about one loss, I’m just letting the world know that I’m back and giving my all like I always do. The decision is what it is, everybody can judge it for themselves. I appreciate Hylon coming to Foxwoods and giving his all, that’s my guy.

Jenna J: You both were coming off of three years layoffs. Do you think if you guys were to meet up again that you guys would produce a different fight?

Jason Litzau: I think we’re gonna produce the same, we’re gonna be better and everything’s great. He came to fight and I came to fight and that’s all I want in life. The next five years, I just want to give my all and dedicate my career and give my best in the ring.

Jenna J: That fight does beg for a rematch just because you guys fought so well together, do you think a rematch will happen?

Jason Litzau: I want to fight everybody. Anything can happen, I’ll fight anybody. I’ve never been one to duck and dive. We both went to the hospital that night I gave him a ride home, so yeah it can happen. I’ll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime, just make it make sense.

Jenna J: Why did you have such a long period of time outside the ring?

Jason Litzau: Lets just say if I could write a book and a movie about those three years, you wouldn’t believe it. I had a couple of surgeries, I went through a divorce, my life was so surreal that words can’t even explain it. You can’t even believe it, it’s surreal.

Jenna J: You had your debut at the age of nineteen and you’re thirty two now, how different do you feel now?

Jason Litzau: I feel better, smarter. I made weight so easy that it was so crazy — I could have made 130lbs that night. I can fight at 126 again easy, with the proper camp. I’m just smarter, I’m older and better, and I’m even sexier ain’t I?

Jenna J: When you look at the boxing landscape, are there any fighters out there that you’d like to see yourself in the ring with?

Jason Litzau: I just want to do what the fans want me to do. I’m just dedicated and whatever the fans want, I’m gonna come one hundred percent always. I never fought for money, I never cheated nobody. You know that I’m coming to fight, so when you buy a ticket, you know I’m gonna fight for my right to party, you know how it goes.

Jenna J: I want to get your views on the boxing scene a little bit. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao finally happened and it didn’t do what fans thought it would do. Were you disappointed at all?

Jason Litzau: Hell no, I think Mayweather is the best fighter in the world. Mayweather I think is the best fighter of all time. Everybody is judging him but they don’t know. God doesn’t make mistakes, Mayweather is the highest paid fighter ever, I love Mayweather. I love Manny Pacquiao too, but when you can do what Mayweather does — it doesn’t matter what he does, somebody is always gonna be a critic and say this or that. Honestly, he’s unbelievable.

Jenna J: Do you think he has any sort of a challenge on September 12th against Andre Berto?

Jason Litzau: Andre Berto is my guy. When you’re at that level, there’s always a challenge. To be 48-0 is unbelievable, but everybody he’s fighting is a killer. He’s not fighting girl scouts. Andre Berto is a killer, everybody he’s ever fought has been a killer. Just because Mayweather makes them look like they’re not, it doesn’t mean they’re not killers.

Jenna J: Back to you Jason, you said you can make 130lbs if you wanted to. Ideally, where do you want to fight?

Jason Litzau: I would love to go grab at title at 130lbs first and then go back to 135lbs. It’s like I’m starting at the bottom again and I’m willing to work hard. I definitely would love to go to 130lbs, I easily could make it. I’m walking around at 140lbs right now, I’ve never gotten fat or blown up, I can make 130lbs easier than I did back then. I want to do whatever the fans want, I’m just loving life.

Jenna J: You’ve had one shot at a world title, if you get a second opportunity, what will it mean to you?

Jason Litzau: If I get that second opportunity, I’m gonna give my all just like I did the first time. I just feel I’m at a different place now that I’m older. I was focused on raising my kids then and all of that. I’m all about boxing right now, watching it, studying it, loving it. I’m the biggest fan.

Jenna J: What do you think you’ve improved the most in your career to this point?

Jason Litzau: I’ve lived and leaned everything inside and outside the ring. We’ll see what God has planned for me, I’m just excited to be back and I’m going back to a throwback fighter. I’m just excited to be back.

Jason Litzau: “I think Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter of all time. God doesn’t make mistakes”. It’s the judges jugdes who made it stupid.

    • Floyd "paddycake" Mayweather says:

Don’t even put God and Floyd in one sentence……floyd is not a Christian.

  2. takeosensei says:

The judges are stupid, you are right Jason Litzau. but you are also stupid bcoz God does not make mistake but God did not make Floyd the best of all time bcoz floyd is not the best of all-time. Floyd is not even the best, period.

  3. floyd says:

    i love you jenna

  4. barry gil r. pilar says:

Yeah trully indeed! Floyd the greatest of all time…..IN RUNNING, CLINCHING AND HUGGING, he is undoubtedly the best and most scary indeed!

  5. Hatecrusher says:

JENNA J. may had be the biggest payrolled in Floyd’s camp….interviewing all the morons in boxing….Who Floyd? he never know how to send opponents to hospital or dismantle opponent’s face and can’t even drip a blood on his boxing career….is it that a good for you? running, slapping then win? All asshole!

  6. JustMike says:

It’s funny how every professional boxer being interviewed lately says Floyd is unbelievable and the only people who don’t think so are crybabies spouting the same unfounded nonsense over and over on comments sections.

  8. august says:

Yes! The best to run run run! Hug hug hug! thats the way to win the fight and not to commet mistake..floyd not a boxer hr is a runner!hahaha!

    • Objectivity says:

Your laughter seems a bit maniacal and unwarranted for the subject context. I would recommend that you discontinue watching the fight in slow motion and seeking medical attention. There are other matters in life aside Pacman’s defeat.
