Jeff Mayweather: “If Gennady Golovkin wants to fight Floyd, why doesn’t he come down to 147lbs? Not 154lbs, come down to 147lbs!”

Ever since the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight finally took place fans have debated what they saw in the fight and what they heard after. Floyd Mayweather won the bout in a fight that displeased the fans, further more Manny Pacquiao claimed to be injured going into the bout, leading fans to speculate if it was just an excuse or if he really was not at his best in the bout.

In part 2 of my “On The Ropes” boxing radio interview with Jeff Mayweather I discuss whether or not Pacquiao would of claimed an injury if he had won the bout. I also get Jeff’s views on the Top Rank lawsuit that threats a rematch from ever happening. Additionally Mayweather discusses his nephews future and if he thinks a fight with Gennady Golovkin is realistic. Here is what Jeff Mayweather had to say.

Jenna J: If Pacquiao had won the May 2nd fight, do you think we would have heard anything about the shoulder injury or do would we be looking for a rematch?

Jeff Mayweather: Of course you would never hear anything about no shoulder injury. We would have never heard that, for a fact. The rematch, it probably would have been made because it would have been a fight worth so much money. It would have been huge, but it was all bs.

Pacquiao’s a guy who made himself look bad and now he doesn’t know how to recover. He doesn’t even know how to recover from what he’s just done. He lied to the public and then made himself look even worse because he lied about the fact that he even had an injury and then you have all these people saying, “Oh well you should have told us. We should get our money back.”

The reality is, he never had a damn injury in the first place. Fighters go into the ring with injuries all the time. Probably ninety percent of fighters go into the ring with injuries, in any combat sport. Not severe injuries, not like the lie that he told, but you have injuries, but they’re never mentioned because that’s part of boxing. If you’re in MMA, that’s a part of MMA. It’s a part of any combat sport, you go into the fight with injuries because you get injured preparing for the fight.

Jenna J: Do you think there is now zero chance of there being a rematch, being the fact that Top Rank now just filed a 300 million dollar lawsuit against Al Haymon?

Jeff Mayweather: There wasn’t gonna be a chance of it happening again anyways, and it had nothing to do with al Haymon, it had something to do with Floyd. Now, that even kills the fight altogether. It’s not about Floyd and Pacquiao, this is something totally different.

Jenna J: Where do you think Floyd goes next? They’re talking about Amir Khan, Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield. What type of fighter do you think he’ll step in the ring with?

Jeff Mayweather: I don’t know, but me personally, I think Floyd had earned the right to fight whoever he wants to. Everybody says, “Oh he needs to fight this guy,” no he doesn’t. He should be able to fight exactly whoever he chooses and walk away from boxing.

Anybody that’s been put in front of him that supposedly was a threat, ended up getting beat just like everybody else. It’s not about trying to find who is the next lion that is supposedly going to carry boxing when he leaves. Floyd’s 38 years old, it’s time for him to just take a fight, win that fight and walk away.

Jenna J: There’s some talk that he may fight on CBS, to fight on network television for the last part of his fight deal. Would that be something cool to give back to the fans and fight on free TV?

Jeff Mayweather: It would be great for the fans, but like I said, he’s earned the right to fight whoever he wants to.

Jenna J: Do you think it’s ridiculous that people want to see him fight Gennady Golovkin?

Jeff Mayweather: I think it’s ridiculous but that’s how it is. When you’re in a position where Floyd is, it’s not necessarily that they hate Floyd, they hate his lifestyle. They hate the fact that this guy makes money and he enjoys spending it. It’s not his fault that everybody’s in his face with a camera in his face and want to front what he’s doing.

Floyd’s not fronting his money in anyone’s face, he’s just enjoying it, but people take that the wrong way. He’s not out here doing anything wrong, he’s not robbing anybody, he’s not selling drugs, he’s not doing anything. He’s earning his money, so he should have the right to do whatever the hell he wants to do with his money.

Jenna J: How do you think a fight between Floyd and Golovkin would go?

Jeff Mayweather: The first thing is this, Floyd has no business fighting a guy like Golovkin. Not so much because he’s great, but if he wants to fight Floyd, why doesn’t he come down to 147lbs? Not 154lbs, come down to 147lbs just like what Floyd actually fights at. Floyd fought at 154lbs just because he had the talent to go up and beat those guys. Floyd has never fought above 149lbs, so why would he fight a guy that’s 160lbs?

So,Mayweathers had a doubt…we the boxing bettors had also a doubt why Floyd wins. Rematch can erased the doubts of both fighter. Why of all the boxers Floyd facing, only to Pacquiao he afraid to had rematch….REMATCH OR FLOYDCOTT.

STFU dumb ass you make no sense

    • Objectivity says:

Honestly, it seems that no matter the winner there will always be doubts within the fan bases. My thoughts are that if Floyd Mayweather fights a quality opponent many Pac fans will watch to see FM lose – now that’s a fan base.

Why would Floyd Mayweather fight a rematch with a fighter whom he clearly has beaten in front of the whole world to see. He beat a fighter who knew he couldn’t beat Floyd by the 6th round of that fight. He gave up. He’s a loser all the way round.

      • jei says:

The world know Floyd lost to Pacquiao. The world witnessed that Floyd run, hugged and head locked Pacquiao because Floyd has nothing to hurt Pacquiao. The world also witnessed how Pacquiao can definitely hurt Floyd.

  2. karla says:

shut up gorilla we dont want rematch same result hugging sabotaging in vegas waste of money

    • Jason Lake says:

Well said!!!!! we are expecting Floyd trading the punches not a marathon.

      • jules says:

Then how come he landed more than paciquio dumb ass ?
That’s how much sense you make !

        • jei says:

How certain are you that Floyd out punch Pacquiao. .. the way I saw it Pacquiao out punch Floyd staggered floyd, Pacquiao was the aggressor wich also counts on a tactical close fight. My proof is on the replay dissected in slow motion. Yours is just on the bias judges, bias commentators, bias commission and bias referee who gave warning all night long but never took points from Floyd who continue to choke hold Pacquiao.

This clan is so ugly in words and in deed, No one should even pay attention to them . Huggers are worst, they are dumber and dumber by the minute. I called this bunch ” Pugly”, translation…..” Pretty Ugly ” inside and out.

Jenna J who entertains and instigate a nonsense from a guy who knows nothing about Boxing.
Belong to each other, not worthy of any consideration because they perpetuate nonsense and they
Talk “Garbage”, so therefore they are a refused of talking Town.

  6. erap says:

    Shut up Jeff.

Your nephew fought like a scaredy cat who can’t dominate a one-armed boxer.

Moreover, I doubt his manhood as he loves to hug.

    • Anonymous says:

You nutjob! Do you actually think Pac-man would be crying if he had actually won that fight. It was a punk move and all the fight fans know this. lol

      • Anonymous says:

Your dumb as they get. Pac won that fight. Go watch it again without the bias commentators. If the fight happen outside U.S …then Pac would have won. Get that to your thick head .

    • jules says:

      Idiot comment.

  7. jei says:

Jeff prove Pacquiao was not injured. The Mayweather camp knew Pacquiao had a bad injury before the fight. Pacquiao had a surgery after the fight. NSAC new about the injury, usada new about the injury, even the Philippine media news team covering Pacquiao training had a suspecion Pacquiao might have injured himself but was not certain and played hush hush about it. The list goes on and on. Still Jeff thinks Pacquiao was lying about it. Fact remains his nephew run all night and has nothing to hurt Pacquiao . The best fighter in the world cannot find a way to put Pacquiao down. I don’t care anymore about floyd’s next fight it’s still gonna be the same boring fight even if he fights Pacquiao again.

    • sharp boxer says:

even pacman was injured the world knows who won the fight. mayweather was scared he keep running and hugging.
mayweather you made no sense of boxing. he ruin the sports of boxing.

    • jules says:

Your ridiculous. He had the injury for over six years according to Arum…are you that dumb ? Did pac looked injured atall in the fight….obviously not so what the hell are you talking about.
Your loser excuses are hilarious, typical weak pac fan !

      • jei says:

Pacquiao’s sparring partner confirms this that Pacquiao was injured and they where sent home and was told to be quiet about it. Look it up it is there stop being so blind and investigate youself.

  8. floyd says:

Floyd did not knock Pacquiao out even Pacman has an injured shoulder.

Floyd group boasting that it was an easy fight for Floyd….

    Floyd is boring fighter ..

  9. Kidd Kulangot GirlGago says:

With or without injury, Freddy CockRoach & Sleeping Beauty Pacquiao had no answer to Fraud ScumWeather Jr’s HOLDING & RUNNING tactics.
As long as refs. like Kenny BrainLess only give soft verbal warnings to JailWeather Jr. for excessive clinching, it’ll never be and never was a level playing field.
Bottom line = SkunkWeather Jr. clearly & easily outsmarted Pookquiao

    • jei says:

How do you outsmart a fighter who trained and committed to running. Easier said than done. Pacquiao was always in front of Floyd and still couldn’t find a way to knock Pacquiao out.

  10. floyd joy says:

pac did not look worse. he showed his heart. boxing looked worse and died because of floyd. nobody cares about boxing anymore because it’s entertainment and no longer a real sport. you don’t know shit about boxing jeff.

    • jules says:

Pac showed his heart using the shoulder excuse after the loss.Even the commentator was talking the piss out of him after the fight !

  11. alex ariza aka POS says:

floyd might have a free fight next…not because he loves the fans…it’s because the fans don’t love him. his ppv numbers will never be the same again. nobody is stupid enough to buy his shitty fixed fights. he’s undefeated because he guarantees it one way or another. don’t believe the hype it’s a sequel.

it’s called a spin job. making something look like something else when in reality it is what is. a free fight means that floyd knows no one will pay for his fights anymore. he knows this. haymon knows this. thus let’s look like a good guy and give a free fight away – for the fans! get the fuck out of here. and the matchup? mayfield?! hahahahaha. berto?!!! hahahaha. why not go all out and pick Usman “Uzzy” Ahmed! hahahahaha.

  12. the bro step reem says:

Fact of the matter is, Monkey Mayweather talked big, said he was going to knock Pacquiao out in 5 rounds, and he didn’t even come close. Pacquiao didn’t have a mark on his face, never got hurt or wobbled, and slow motion punch counts revealed that Pacquiao landed more and Mayweather missed more.

  13. wbox says:

Floyd still untested sadly – running against a 1 handed tiny opponent sucks.

  14. Larry says:

Jenna, I love you honey but Jeff is irrelevant. I’d entertain Floyd sr. and Roger but Jeff?

  15. anonymous says:

I agree Pacquiao looked bad that he didn’t accept the loss as a man..but, he DID NOT LIE about the injury. And he felt he really won coz he as he is the fighter and felt he ducked more punches and connected more than Mayweather did.

  16. Anonymous says:

Why hasn’t anyone mentioned how much less dynamic Manny was in the one fight he has had where steroid testing was mandated?

  17. Jay says:

I hate to say this, but I would have to agree with this article. The fight should have been called off, if there was a severe injury. A lot of money was involved, and an individual could have needed this fight to pay off debts. This fight would have taken place, no matter the circumstance. $ $ $ $…

  18. tom says:

Pacquiao honestly thought he won the fight base on his aggressive performance but he then later accpted the corrupted judges decisions. Pacquiao has a valid excuse why he lose the fight, he reinjured his right shoulder somewhere during the fourth round and we now for the fact he had surgery for that. Another reason why he underperformed is because he missed 3 weeks of sparring session and rely then only on cardio and gym work out. WHAT IF MAYWEATHER LOST THE FIGHT What would be his greatest excuse?…. there’s only one thing i know for sure and that’s ” pacqauiao is on PED. lol,

  19. sharp boxer says:

The world knows manny pacquiao is entertainer fighter all his fight full of excitement and entertaining fight
without boring fights thats why we like manny pacquiao.

  20. Timo says:

People don’t listen sometimes,Roach an his team knew all about the shoulder injury. It was on the computer where roach said manny could beat Floyd with one arm.Manny was wrong getting the ring with Floyd with the injury.Jeff is full of sh,t roach would have said if he won the fight we beat you with one arm,I really believe he did have the injury. Two of the judges had it 116/112 ,just imagine if he did have both arms.I watch it in slow mo and I was shoes on how many punches Floyd missed. When a fighters running throughout the fight ,he threw jabs an punches going away because he ran so much.At the end Manny didn’t even look like he was in a fight.

  21. Kidd KulaPooh-Pooh GirlGago says:

Pinoy boxers need to learn WHAT TO DO WHEN AN OPPONENT IS GRABBING & HOLDING EXCESSIVELY….. especially when refs like Kenny BrainLess & Joe Cortez let them get away with it.
It happened in the recent Villanueva vs. Arroyo fight and in the JailWeather vs. Sleeping Beauty Pacquiao pillow fight.
Seems like Pinoy boxers & trainers are too dumb to figure it out….especially Freddy CockRoach….tsk tsk

  22. Bob Arum says:

Manny had that injury since 2008 and has learned to live with it. He re-injured it during training. He was concerned if the fight was postponed, ScumWeather may not give him the opportunity to fight him. He was worried that May 2nd was his only chance to get in the ring with Fraud Jr.

  23. Jovijo says:

Again., Jenna interviews this Gorilla who knows nothing about Boxing. I think they are so in love to each other. A perfect mate. They should get married. They look alike.

  24. Anonymous says:

What a Bogus and nonsense article. The site should shut this thing down. Proof this Wannabees are so fucking Mayweather bullshit.

  25. art says:

Why is Jeff so bitter? Is it because his nephew was fighting so scared despite Pacquiao having just one arm? Is it because he knew in his heart of hearts that his nephew lost fighting a one-armed opponent?
Jeff should just sue the doctor who operated on Pacquiao if he truly believe he’s faking the injury, and bring along Paula Maligalig (Malinagi) for good measure.

  26. august says:

Pacman always win on latest boxing fight to floyd mayweather..but FLOYD always win
    in sprint running and hugging!HAHAHAHA!

  27. Jason Lake says:

Jeff can’t sleep of being a guilty because the fans keeps asking on how Floyd winning the bouts despite of riding his bicycles and hugging styles.

  28. karla says:

i wish this fraud of boxing quit soon the way he fights destroys the legacy of boxing all hyped and drama outside the ring but when it comes to fight night i wish i can throw my television into his back waste of money

  29. Anonymous says:

    Karla,

If you are a true fight fan and you know the fight game; you should know which fights are fixed…this way you can save your money and watch the fight the following weekend when they repeat it. Why would you be a fool and pay $100 on a fight that was fixed before they got into the ring. Where there is mega-millions and Las Vegas involved….its usually fixed; especially that fight. lol

  30. Joe Thornton says:

I’m sure Floyd can find someone else who has six losses, one by being knocked out cold, to fight. Why must an undefeated fighter feel the need to chase a guy who actually lost 9.2% of his matches? There’s a word for fighters who lose over 9.2% of their fights. We call them bums.

  31. Hernan says:

If Pacquiao looks bad how come Floyd is the one being booed in public and social medias? The fact is the Las Vegas mafia (and people know that) handed Floyd the decision. It hurts to know that you have beaten by a one-handed fighter at you own game Floyd.

    • Walter says:

Why don’t they pushed a fight with triple G and Andre Wardwould make a great fight a very close weight class
