Carl Froch on Groves rematch & controversy. Brian Vera discussing Chavez fight, and Abel Sanchez on Golovkin, Mayweather & Pacquiao ~ ON THE ROPES #209!

“On The Ropes” Boxing Radio returns this week with host Jenna J to talk about all the latest news in the sport of boxing. In this episode I recap the fights that took place this past Saturday in London, England. The event was headlined by two heavyweight fights, the first bout saw Tyson Fury return to the ring and defeat Joey Abell via TKO in the 4th round. I will talk about Fury’s performance after a long period of inactivity, and what he can improve on as he moves forward.

The main event featured Dereck Chisora vs. Kevin Johnson in a 12 round match. Chisora outworked the more defensive minded Johnson and won a wide unanimous decision. I will discuss the possible rematch between Fury and Chisora and if the second meeting will be any different than the first. Lastly, I will be previewing Zou Shiming’s next fight, as he takes on Yokthong Kokietgym in an 8 round fight. Just click on the audio player to listen to the show!

Guests
The first guest on this weeks show is super middleweight contender, Brian Vera. Vera makes his return to the show to talk about his scheduled rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. which takes place on March 1st at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Brian discusses the changes he plans on making for this bout and if he believe Chavez Jr. will make weight this time out.

The second guest is Abel Sanchez, the trainer of IBO/WBA champ, Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Abel makes his debut appearance to “On the Ropes” and gives his views on Golovkin’s latest TKO victory over Osumanu Adama, and what opponent he believes is next for GGG. Sanchez also mentions the fighters he thinks could give Golovkin the most competitive fights, and the likelihood of those fights materializing in 2014. Lastly, Abel gives his thoughts on Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The main guest is none other than IBF/WBA super middleweight champion, Carl “Cobra” Froch. Carl comes on to talk about the recently announced rematch between him and George Groves, and all the controversy that took place in the first match. Froch also discusses some difficulties he had leading up to the first encounter with Groves and how that will not be a factor in the rematch. Aside from this, Froch gives his opinions on the sports biggest stars, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, and their next bouts. Lastly, “The Cobra” talks about his future in the sport and what fighters he has his eyes on.
