The fight the world has been waiting for has now been announced. Following years of unsuccessful negotiations and endless anticipation, boxing fans can now be certain that they will see the two best fighters of this generation squaring off inside the ring. Floyd Mayweather Jr.(47-0, 26 KO’s) and Manny Pacquiao(57-5-2, 38 KO’s) will be meeting each other on May 2nd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the world watches this historic rivalry unfold.
In what promises to be the biggest fight recent history, Floyd Mayweather will be looking to defeat his toughest opponent and cement his legacy as one of the greatest fighters of all time. On his end, Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao will try to add another chapter to his illustrious career by being the first man to defeat Mayweather.
Fate and circumstance have brought us to this moment, with two historic fighters now on the cusp of making history in the sport of boxing, where only one will prevail. The fight has been talked about on and off since 2008, but this year’s talks that started after Manny Pacquiao’s dominant win over Chris Algieri were different. Both fighters saw this as a now or never opportunity and decided to do whatever it took to make this fight. When it seems that the fight would once again fall apart, a chance encounter at a Miami Heat game saw boxing’s #1 in Mayweather and #2 in Pacquiao meet for the very first time and help guide the fight discussions to a successful conclusion.
Now that the fight is finally official, boxing fans will see only a brief promotion as May 2nd is less than two and a half months away, but with a fight that has been talked about as long as this one has, promotions do not need to be too long. Mayweather will come in to the fight as just under a 3-1 favorite, but with Pacquiao having such a wide fan base, those odds will surely narrow closer as the fight draws near.
While fans have debated back and fourth for years as to who would win, one thing has remained the same in that time, Floyd Mayweather’s undefeated record. Pacquiao is regarded by many as the biggest risk to Mayweather’s perfect record and while he suffered a couple of defeats in 2012, Pacquiao has looked as dominant as ever and looks to overcome the odds and prove himself once again as boxing’s best pound for pound fighter.
Mayweather-Pacquiao stands to be the biggest fight in boxing history and even though some feel the fight is a few years too late, no one can argue that it will still be the most anticipated. On May 2nd, boxing fans will no longer have to wonder as to who the best really is.

WAR MANNY!
I will be glad to eat all the words I’ve said about this fight …just to see that the fight will really happen..
Hit and don’t get hit. Now,its going to be ” hit and be hit harder” 47-1 then after rematch 47-2
If Manny will win the fight, the rematch purse split will be 60 for Manny and 40 for floyd and if Manny will lose i am sure there is no more a rematch, and Manny will just retire and focus on politics.but we never know whats their agreement only two of them know about it.
..Mayweather said I am the best ever, Manny will be my 48th victim, Is this so? Let’s get it on, Manny will knock him out!
back and fourth?
actually its the announcement of the fight being made that all fans are waiting for that matters most. the fight itself on may 2 will not matter anymore because we all know, for those who knows what boxing is, will not be exciting as it should because the fight is long overdue. this is all a joke!
it will be maywether on controversal win on points on may 2. then a rematch will be made on november with manny winning on points. of course both matches will be controversal. a third and the last fight will be on 2016. thats what i’,m waiting for. take my words. we will see on 2016…
It’s a relief that there was no rematch clause in the contract. If there was one, I cant help doubting that this is going to be a scripted fight, forcing it to a money-making trilogy making more millions for those involved. Oh come on we know the business side of boxing!
Given Mayeeather’s ring smarts and Pacquiao’s diminished KO power, Manny winning over Floyd by knockout seems unlikely, but is it impossible?
Mayweather is the bigger guy and a 3 to 1 favorite–most folks in boxing are giving him the thumbs up to beat the Pac but lets not forget that Pacquiao fights best when he’s the underdog and when he’s fighting bigger guys.
all is set for a Floyd win:
