Floyd Mayweather Sr: “Mayweather-Pacquiao would be the biggest fight in the world. If Floyd fights Pacquiao, believe me, it’s gonna be the best for last!’

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, it is a fight that as time goes on, it’s almost thought of as a fantasy fight because of how hard it is to make in reality. Between promotional issues and dueling TV networks, the fight most believe will be the biggest in boxing history still has yet to happen, and with both fighters nearing the end of their boxing careers, many wonder if these two will make one final effort to make the fight the world has wanted to see for many years.

In the third and final part of my interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr, I discuss with him the options that await his son in his future. Floyd talks about a possible fight with Amir Khan and how he thinks Khan would deal with his son’s style. Mayweather also gives his thoughts on when boxing fans could see a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, and which fighter is more likely to meet his son in the ring next. Additionally Floyd gives his views on Mickey Bey’s recent return, and on his reality show, ‘Knockout.’ Here is what Floyd Mayweather Sr. had to say.

Jenna J: If you could pick a person to fight your son next, who would it be? If you had to choose between Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana or Manny Pacquiao, who would you pick?

Floyd Mayweather Sr: First of all, if we fight Pacquiao, that would be last anyways. That would be the fight that’s going away, and that fight would probably be the biggest fight in the world. If Floyd fights Pacquiao, believe me, it’s gonna be the best for last, simple. It’s between Amir Khan or whoever else they got there.

Jenna: Between Amir Khan and Maidana, who would you prefer more?

Mayweather Sr: I would rather see him fight Amir Khan because Khan does have some kind of way of boxing, this guy don’t box at all, this guy is just a wild crazy animal.

Jenna: How would a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan go? How do you see it playing out?

Mayweather Sr: That would be an easy fight for Floyd. That would be an easy fight because he tries to box, and that’s what you cannot do with Floyd.

Jenna: Do you have any thought on how it would end?

Mayweather Sr: It could go the distance but Floyd would put a real good whooping on him though, cause he’s a boxer, he ain’t nobody that’s gonna swarm all over you — and the only reason the guy can do that is because he has that kind of weight to do that with Floyd, that’s the only reason he can put his whole bodyweight on Floyd like that.

Can Amir Khan whoop Floyd? Is he more skilled than Floyd? Does he have more knowledge about the game? Is he smarter? None of that, he ain’t got nothing on Floyd, nothing.

Jenna: You recently also trained Mickey Bey for a return fight. Mickey won it even though he got knocked down in the 7th round.

Mayweather Sr: I’m gonna be honest with you, Mickey Bey was really off of his feet, the guy was charging him so Mickey Bey went down. It wasn’t really no big deal at all.

Jenna: Some people are questioning Mickey Bey’s chin. Do they have a reason to do that?

Mayweather Sr: Anybody can question some bodies chin, but if you get hit good by anybody, the bell will ring, I don’t care who you get hit by. Ali clipped ‘Big’ George Foreman, hey George Foreman went down. It don’t make a difference. You get hit with the right thing or you get hit in the right spot, it’s gonna cause a problem.

Jenna: After what you’ve seen, do you think Mickey Bey is ready for a title shot?

Mayweather Sr: Yeah he will be ready. If he ain’t ready, he will be. The only thing I can tell you right now — the last fight, it was alright, but his next fight will be better.

Jenna: Back to your son, what will be the most important thing for your son to do differently to make a second fight with Maidana easier?

Mayweather Sr: Stay off the ropes, stay in the center of the ring and box his eyes out.

Jenna: If that happens, do you think that fight will be completely different than the first one?

Mayweather Sr: I most definitely do.

Jenna: Do you have any message to pass along to team Maidana for the way they fought?

Mayweather Sr: I would tell Maidana, “You’re not a fighter, you fight like an out of the cage gorilla.” I would let him know that, “look everything you do is wrong and you will never be able to whoop my son,” simple.

Jenna: Any message to Robert Garcia?

Mayweather Sr: Oh shit, they’re cheaters. I ain’t got no problem with him. He appears to be a nice guy, but hey, he is cheater, simple. Them guy are telling somebody, “Do whatever it takes to win, just try to get this win.” Then they go out and talk about that he won — they didn’t win shit.

Jenna: Floyd your reality show ‘Knockout’ has been out for a little bit. What do you think of the early episodes?

Mayweather Sr: Well a lot of people are telling me that they like it. I’ve only seen one version of it but a lot of people tell me they really like it. That’s what everybody tells me.

Jenna: How do you think it’s gonna end, do you think you’re gonna come away with the victory in the final?

Mayweather Sr: It ain’t no digity, it ain’t no doubt, they soon find out what it’s all about.

  1. The family is saving lil floyd’s last fight for Pac ’cause they have doubts all these years whether lil floyd can dominate Pac or the risk of lil floyd being stopped by Pac. They are shrewed and very Knowledgable and KNOW that Pac can bash lil floyd like Oscar and Margarito. Pac can fire from all directions and the shoulder roll would not work as Roberto Duran tipped Pac to keep on punching the shoulder until it gives way and will be EASY after that. We have to wait 2 more years until the Mayweathers could not resist the MONEY lure and RISK it all he he he – Pweh!

  2. wtf! U say robert garcia is a cheater? If maidana wear his comfortably gloves which is not allow by your son, i think maidana would knock the fuck out! Now tell us who’s the real cheater’s?

  3. believe me it wont happen coz this father n son team is a dog without balls!! TBE “The Balls-less Ever!!

  4. Every body knows that the only competitive fight with Floyd is Manny Pacquiao not Khan nor Maidana..With 900K PPV in his fight with Maidana Showtime/GBP should think if they want to lose money again in his next fight…

  5. THEN MAKE THE FIGHT HAPPEN CONVINCE YOUR DUCKING SON LIKE YOU TO FIGHT PACMAN
WE CANT WAIT TO SEE A BLOODY BRUISED FACE OF YOUR DUCKING SON ON THE RING . MAKE THE FIGHT HAPPEN STUPID OLD MAN. TELL YOUR SON TO DO THE TALKING ON THE RING NOT ON A ENTERVIEW..OR ELSE YOUR SON HAS NO BALL …

  6. accusing Maidana like an out of cage Gorilla… look who’s talking??? TARZAN yell ” Ahhhh waaahh haaaa waaaah haaaa”

  7. ..The old Mayweather talks non-sense again, he must admitt that his son simply has no balls to fight pAcquiao. Floydie jr is hell-scared to slug it out agaisnt Manny because the latter absolutely has the power and speed to knock him out. As i always say better for Mayweather jr not to mAke a mistake in picking pacquiao to be his opponent because its too risky for his health!….

  8. Because his last fight against Maidana did not do well with PPV, the COWARD Mayweather family is using Pacquiao’s name again…

  9. All of you suckers need to give me some of them drugs you be taking…They some good shit!

It ain’t no digity, it ain’t no doubt pacmans gonna get the taste slapped outta his mouth.

    Simple.

  10. Since Mayweazther, Sr. admitted that the fight of his son with Pacquiao would be the biggest fight boxing history, so why entertain the thoughts of fighting Khan and Maidana and commenting their qualities that both are no match to Floyd Jr. Why can they make the fight Mayweather-Pacquiao happen and lose no time as both at the end of their boxing career, but it is only Floyd, Jr. and not Pacquiao who is little bit young..

  11. most of the time when floyd sr.being interviewed, same as usual,he is very bias to all his commentaries. They’re just very scared to fight PACMAN because they know his son will be get knockout by Manny.Who is crazy in this world if you’re really an athlete to refused 100 milion earnings to fight Manny. The answer is FLOYD Jr.He is ducking to all great fighters especially to Manny.Shame on you.

  12. fuck the Mayweathers! All they know is talk and run! A family of tweakers and crack users! disgrace to boxing.

Old Monkey floyd always says it’s an easy fight when they all know what time it is when pac and his coward son face each other in the ring. it’s byebye 0 for his son.

i can’t believe they’re all scared of a 5 foot 6 guy with a southpaw stance from Asia.

  13. As Manny said in his Facebook,We will fight if the (May)wether is good, but now the (May)weather is not good. got it folks!!!!!

  14. No digity no doubt if my son fight pacman
Its gonna b last cuz lil floyd might get knocked the f**k out

  15. Shut up!!shuttt up!! You and your son is so scared!obviously since 2009 your camp is run away (excuses) mayweather jr camp (alhaymon) is a master of hyping propaganda.they used loud mouth name manny pacquiao (hyping people ) in order to sell his son fight!!but the truth he dosen’t want to fight!the number ppvs in maidana fight (low) is the result.it so simple..and dela hoya is now realizing that ‘s why schaffer will fired soonnnnnn…only moron in boxing who beleives this boring, cherry picker family!

  16. All Pinoys are racist motheruckers. Country is 50 years behind the times.

They are about as educated as a circus clown.

  17. new demand from Floyd…….RANDOM GLOVE TESTING. EVERLAST PADDED GLOVES FOR MAIDANA. where is the level playing field you always talked about.

  18. Same old n…a different day . Same old bullshit lies and excuses .

It is most certainly a waste of good oxegen to keep those mayweather CLOWNS breathing !

  19. fight pacman .no too much talking without doing and saying anything,we boxing fans are not dumb…prove a proof.

  20. The Mayweather’s are being pressured right now because of the 6 fights, $ 200,000,000.00 contract from SHOWTIME and their last fight’s PPV sales is only about 900,000,000 buys and its disappointing for the network for such PPV buys.

    1. That’s why they will be forced to fight PACQUIAO this time around who could help them generate more PPV buys to recuperate their deficits in PPV sales…

  21. That’s why they need the Pacquiao fight this time around to recuperate with their deficit in PPV sales to meet the demand of Showtime network..

  22. Come on Floydie Jr. no more outrageous excuses. Just fight Manny now and not later Because if you lose to Manny it will not be very painful. But if you suffer your defeat in your last fight it will be devastating which can make you lose your mind. This is because you have nothing else but boxing.
