Muhammad Ali passes away at the age of 74

Tragic news broke today as it was reported that boxing great, Muhammad Ali, has passed away at the age of 74. Ali was one of the most influential figures in boxing and carved an unrivaled legacy in not just the history of sports, but in the history of this country. The man known as ‘The Greatest’ stepped into the professional ring 61 times and took part in legendary battles with the likes of George Foreman in the unforgettable event known as ‘The Rumble in the Jungle.’ Additionally, Ali faced his long time rival, Joe Frazier, in arguably the best heavyweight trilogy of all time.

Muhammad Ali was a three time heavyweight champion and retired from boxing in 1981 with a record of 56-5 (37KOs). Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1984 and battled the disease for the rest of his life.

We at ‘On The Ropes’ boxing extend our condolences to the family and friends of Muhammad Ali. Rest in peace, champ.
