“On the Ropes” Boxing Radio returns this week with the year end edition of the show. On this episode I will be recapping the brightest moments of 2014, including the rise of the light heavyweight division as one of the more entertaining weight classes in the sport. I will also be talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the list of potential opponents for the pound for pound star as he nears the end of his career. This weeks show also features the 6th annual On The Ropes boxing awards, in which the top fighters and performances will receive acknowledgement. Guests

The first guest on this week’s show is trainer, Javan ‘Sugar’ Hill. The nephew of the great Emanuel Steward, ‘Sugar’ Hill now carries the legacy left by Steward and continues training fighters at the Kronk gym. Javan speaks about training current light heavyweight champion, Adonis Stevenson and if he expects a Stevenson-Kovalev fight to happen any time soon. Hill also spoke about boxing’s biggest stars, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather and a potential fight between the two. Lastly Hill talked about his stable of fighters and what he is looking forward to in 2015.

Making his third appearance to “On The Ropes” is renowned trainer, Virgil Hunter. Hunter gained recognition for his work with undefeated super middleweight champ, Andre Ward, and in the past years has begun to take other high level fighters into his stable, including Amir Khan, Andre Berto and Alfredo Angulo. Virgil speaks about Amir Khan’s recent victory over Devon Alexander and a possible Khan-Mayweather showdown. Additionally, Virgil Hunter talked about Andre Ward’s absence from the ring and when he expects Ward to step back in the ring.

The main guest on this week’s program is former heavyweight champion, Shannon ‘The Cannon’ Briggs. Shannon spoke about his return to boxing following a four year hiatus from the sport. Briggs shared his thoughts on Wladimir Klitschko’s knockout victory over Kubrat Pulev and expressed his desire to fight the heavyweight champ in 2015. Lastly, ‘The Cannon’ gives his thoughts on the boxing landscape and the state of the sport.

  1. Gene A. says:

I guess we need more Shannon to convince Mayweather to fight Pacquiao. He is just too scared piling too many excuses.

  2. Jr says:

My dream fight is Briggs vs Klitschko. I want to see Briggs stalk Wlad until fight time. 🙂

  3. jess says:

After all is said and done some boxers and fight fans still believe Floydie Jr. is not scared to face Pacquiao. With all his a-million-and-one outrageous excuses, Floydie Jr is indeed running scared to square off against Manny. He will even do anything to avoid the fight that everyone is wanting to watch. He is willing to go to jail again by involving himself in the suicide of his rapper-singer friend who killed his wife after Floydie Jr told him his wife is cheating on him. By the way who is the third party here? I t could be nobody else but Floyfdie Jr himself. Jail the criminal again.

  7. IMHO you’ve got the right answer!
