“On the Ropes” Boxing Radio is back this week with host Jenna J to talk about all the recent fights and fight news going on in the sport. In this episode, I will be recapping last Saturday night’s SHOWTIME triple header event which was headlined by welterweight title fight between Kell Brook and Shawn Porter. Kell Brook came to foreign soil to take on the highly regarded Porter and scored an impressive 12 round unanimous decision.

I will talk about the future match ups that can be in store for Brook and what Porter does following his first professional defeat. I will also be discussing the rematch between Anthony Dirrell and Sakio Bika. Click play on the audio player to listen to the latest edition of “On The Ropes

The first guest on this episode is interim WBA champion, Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman. The unbeaten Thurman is one of the fastest rising stars in the welterweight division, and he has his sights set on the highest ranked fighters in the division. Thurman gives his thoughts on the Porter-Brook IBF title fight and talks about how he thinks he matches up with Kell Brook. Keith also gives an update on his injuries and when he hopes to come back to the ring. Lastly, ‘One Time’ talks about the upcoming Mayweather-Maidana rematch as well as Manny Pacquiao’s November bout with Chris Algieri.

Joining the show for the second time is undefeated 140lb prospect, Lydell ‘Hackman’ Rhodes. Gaining recognition for being Manny Pacquiao’s chief sparring partner for his fight with Timothy Bradley, Rhodes is now rising through the ranks in his division. Lydell talks about his stoppage win over John Nater this past Saturday and where he plans on going from here.

The main guest on this episode is renowned trainer, Robert Garcia, who was a commentator for the BKB: Vera vs. Rosado event this past weekend. Robert speaks about the BKB card and the main event in which Gabriel Rosado stopped Brian Vera in the 6th round. Garcia also comments on which two fighters he would like to see meet up in ‘The Pit.’ Robert Garcia goes in depth on the upcoming Mayweather-Maidana rematch and what he expects from ‘El Chine’ Maidana on September 13.

  1. Please congratulate Lydell on his big win. He is a fine young man. I was the first to meet him on his arrival in Manila and had quite a few interviews with him. Good luck Lydell.

Kindly ask Robert Garcia about the rumors that Mikey Garcia is retiring from boxing. He is a terrific fighter and that would be a shame.

Thank you Jenna and God bless.

  2. It is like taking advance cash that will oftimes be returned in a tiny time with all the preset credit on it.
